History
Bob Watts has held gatherings on his farm for at least a decade but in 2008 his yearly knees-up (aptly named Wattsfest) was transformed by the Avantrural crew and their friends and collaborators, Holmbush Records. While maintaining the intimate vibe of a small festival for Devon folk, this new alliance brought a bundle of underground music to the South West that had excitement and eclecticism seeping from the seams.
Despite having over ten years of collective event history, the Avantrural and Holmbush crews have not conspired to create a large, corporately assisted festival. Instead we are honing our own version of the traditional summer fayre. We keep it grass roots because that’s where we’re at. The year of 2010 will see our third outing together and needless to say, we're all looking forward to creating another wonderful weekend.
